In 1978 our founder began a ministry working with local pastors and building committees. His heart for churches coupled with his construction experience led him to establish Midwest in 1997. Today we have grown into a leading church designer/builder while continuing our tradition of personal and professional service.


 
 

James D. Allen
Executive Vice President

“The two most important elements are the spiritual foundation of the church and the relationships within its walls.”


Dr. James D. Allen has been in the ministry for over 30 years. Dr. Allen received his Doctorate of Ministry Degree from Ashland Theological Seminary (Ashland University) in Ashland, Ohio. His dissertation research focused on church building projects and is titled Assisting Pastors in Church Building Programs. He also holds a Master's Degree in Pastoral Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary, a Master's Degree in Biblical Studies from AG Theological Seminary in Springfield, Missouri, and a Bachelor’s degree from Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri.

During the course of his ministry, Dr. Allen was the senior pastor in four churches, three in Illinois and one in Ohio. He also served in his state denominational office in Illinois where his primary duties included managing and resolving church conflict. He has also served on several boards and committees within and outside of his denomination. He spent 18 years as Senior Pastor of Dayspring in Bowling Green, Ohio. He retired from Dayspring in 2007.

Dr. Allen has been actively involved with Midwest Church Design and Construction as a consultant since the beginning of the company. Over the last 12 years, Midwest Church Design and Construction has benefited greatly from his wisdom and counsel, as well as the churches we serve. He officially joined the company as a partner in 2007, following his retirement from the pastorate. He continues to keep his pulse on the local church by providing pulpit ministry, conducting seminars, and maintaining his connections with church pastors.

As Executive Vice President, Dr. Allen functions as one of three executive officers in the company, and provides oversight in all areas relating to client care.

He has dedicated his life to the ministry. He and his wife, Debbie, enjoy a very active lifestyle, and have been happily married since 1970. They are the parents of two married children, and proud grandparents of 4.

 

 
 

Randy Runyon

“The church is more than just brick and stone, it is a building to foster community and one's relationship with Jesus Christ.”

 

Randy Runyon brings a truly unique combination of education and experience to every church he serves.  Educated in construction, at ABC Technical Career Center, Randy began his career as a construction superintendent.  Called to ministry after years of commercial and residential construction experience, Randy returned to school to earn his diploma in Pastoral Theology. 

Randy spent the next thirteen years as a full-time pastor.  During his time as senior pastor, Randy led Life Point Assembly of God through two complete renovations, multiple remodels and the new construction of their present facility. 

As a pastor and as a contractor, Randy immediately recognized the value of the Midwest Method.  “As a pastor, it’s important to have a clear vision of your building project; Midwest helps them to realize that vision.” 

Randy specializes in working with churches considering remodeling and or additions.  “We have a genuine concern and care for every church we work with.”

Randy and his wife Michelle have enjoyed nineteen years of marriage and ministry together.  They reside in Delaware Ohio with their seventeen year old son, Dustin. 

 

 

 
 

Jack Berry
Architectural Manager

With a solid base of over twenty years of education and experience, Jack joined Midwest in 2003. Prior to coming on board, he served as Director of Architecture with the Aspen Group and worked for award winning architectural firms in Boston, MA, Nashua, NH, and Newark, OH.

During his career, Jack has designed and managed a wide range of projects including commercial, financial, industrial, residential, restaurant, and healthcare facilities. During the past six years, he has focused exclusively on church and Christian education space.

Jack brings the heart of a servant to every project he manages. He recognizes that every project is more than just “building.” Jack believes that “Each church we build is a tool for ministry” and must be approached differently than other spaces.

Jack is a graduate of Burlington Bible Institute and holds a bachelors degree in architecture from The Ohio State University. He lives in Findlay, Ohio with his wife and children Joel, Sarah, Aaron, Samuel, Hannah and Bethany. He serves as a Deacon for Calvary Baptist Church. Jack enjoys teaching Sunday school and leading a weekly bible study for students at the University of Findlay.

 

 
 

Alan Morrison
Funding Consultant

“There’s no such thing as the average church.”

 

 
Alan spent eighteen years providing brand management, strategic planning and marketing services to Fortune 500 corporations. During that time he handled the national accounts of a diverse group of industry leading organizations including Black & Decker, DEWALT, ESPN, GE and NASCAR.

Alan got to know Midwest as a client long before becoming an employee. Serving as a team leader of his church’s capital campaign, and member of the building committee, he had the opportunity to see Midwest Church Design and Construction in action.

In 2004, Alan completed an extensive two and a half year study of capital campaigns underwritten, in part, by Midwest Church Construction. Since joining Midwest, he has helped churches raise millions and millions of dollars to expand the scope of their ministries.

Alan holds a bachelors degree in accounting and is currently pursuing a masters of divinity. As a nationally ranked triathlete he is currently training for the 2008 Ironman. Alan is a member of CedarCreek Church and lives in Perrysburg Ohio with his wife, Mindi and their two daughters Hayley and Allison.

 

 
 

Steve Macintosh

 

 
Steve has served as a Senior Pastor for over 20 years in Florida, Maine, Missouri and Indiana. During this time, he was involved in expansion, remodeling and building of church facilities. He also assisted other ministries in consultations for building programs and remodeling.

Prior to coming to Midwest, Steve served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Myler Church Builders. While there, he traveled extensively throughout the Midwest meeting with and consulting churches, boards, building Committees and Pastors helping to move their vision for new facilities into reality.

Steve has a heart to help ministries connect their facilities to the community they serve. He desires to use his gifts to bring Glory to God and His Kingdom.

Steve is a graduate of Southeastern University Lakeland, Florida. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministries. He is also working towards a Masters Degree in Leadership Development. He lives in Fishers, Indiana and has been married over 25 years. Steve enjoys spending time with his family, flying , fly fishing and golfing.
