The two most important elements are the spiritual foundation of the church and the relationships within its walls.Dr. James D. Allen has been in the ministry for over 30 years. Dr. Allen received his Doctorate of Ministry Degree from Ashland Theological Seminary (Ashland University) in Ashland, Ohio. His dissertation research focused on church building projects and is titled Assisting Pastors in Church Building Programs. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary, a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies from AG Theological Seminary in Springfield, Missouri, and a Bachelor’s degree from Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. He is Director of the Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling program at Winebrenner Seminary in Findlay, Ohio.
During the course of his ministry, Dr. Allen was the senior pastor in four churches, three in Illinois and one in Ohio. He also served in his state denominational office in Illinois where his primary duties included managing and resolving church conflict. He has also served on several boards and committees within and outside of his denomination. He spent 18 years as Senior Pastor of Dayspring in Bowling Green, Ohio. He retired from Dayspring in 2007.
Dr. Allen has been actively involved with Midwest Church Design and Construction as a consultant since the beginning of the company. Midwest Church Design and Construction has benefited greatly from his wisdom and counsel, as well as the churches we serve. He officially joined the company as a partner in 2007, following his retirement from the pastorate. He continues to keep his pulse on the local church by providing pulpit ministry, conducting seminars, and maintaining his connections with church pastors.
As Executive Vice President, Dr. Allen functions as one of three executive officers in the company, and provides oversight in all areas relating to client care.
He has dedicated his life to the ministry. He and his wife, Debbie, enjoy a very active lifestyle, and have been happily married since 1970. They are the parents of two married children, and proud grandparents of 6. Two of his grandchildren are in heaven along with his thirty-five year old daughter Christa.
